My name’s Arthur. My father calls me Art because when I was born, he said “I’ll make an artist out of you.” He cut me in two, filled my veins with vermilion, chose one piece of marble out of a million and shaped the dome of my skull. A sunflower seed was sown behind each of my eyes, so that the sight of the stars might make me dream. But my skin was paper thin. The shape of my outline a charcoal cartoon. Unearthing a signature, I said, “I’ll be an artist after.” First, I’ll work on the art of being Arthur.
About '1 to 100 Words'
Each week I will be writing a flash fiction piece using a one word prompt as inspiration. If you would like to get involved, and provide a word for the ‘1 to 100 words’ project comment below or on social media.
All artwork and words are written by myself, Amy Leonard.
