Firstly we all know how boring and suffocating it can be to have a long layover in an airport. If you travel alot then you are probably no stranger to Dubai International Airport, here are some things you can do to pass the time.
Take a Swim
Take a swim at the pool. Yes people Dubai international airport has a swimming pool and a gym, so if you need to cool off after a long flight then head to terminal G-force, it costs 5USD/3.45GDP an hour. Well worth it since the UAE is a very hot country.
Visit the Zen gardens
When the traveling has got you feeling down or out of sorts, go visit the Zen garden in terminal 3. It has a fish pond, waterfalls, trees and benches. You can relax and just take in the beauty of your environment. The Zen garden is free for all passengers on transit.
Try out one of the raffle competitions. You might just end up becoming a millionaire or owning a luxury car; arrive a normal everyday Joe and leave a millionaire.
Middle Eastern Cuisine
Nothing is complete without food. There are many restaurants in the airport, so why not take time out and try the different cuisine? They’re also budget friendly so you not going to feel like you paying an arm and a leg for a piece of meat. Check out Seafood restaurant, you will feel like you are in the ocean while eating.
Go to the spa and spend an hour getting a facial or massage. Pamper yourself, you deserve it, you’re going to be treated like a queen or king for an hour. Yes men can also go to the spa, it’s not only women allowed. Fees range between 5USD/3.35GDP and 8USD/ 5.54GDP
The Wings Bar is a tranquil coffee bar, and it serves every kind of coffee you can think of. It even offers combinations you never thought of, such as a maple and bacon coffee (only costing 82 cents, or 57 pence). Be fearless and try a weird combination.
Dubai international airport has a miniature mall in it, with over 26,000 square feet of retail. You can shop till you drop or until your pockets scream enough, and best of all, it’s duty free.
Last but not least, sleep cubicles. These are the best. Dubai airport has little cubicles in the airport hallways that have beds, touchscreen TV’s, Wi-Fi and enough room to store carry-on luggage. You can rent them by the hour 21USD/14.55GDP or 28USD/19.40GDP if sharing.
Next time you have a layover try out one of this things, or all. You won’t be disappointed.
