One area which is rarely used in games is World War One, and I really don’t know why, other than maybe out respect for the Great War. However, many games have depicted war without losing integrity and respect in a game. Battlefield 1 seemingly has everything; tank warfare, airship fighting, Howitzers and, of course, fighting on horseback. This game has all that makes a great game, and shows it is possible to do something different without having to depart from what gamers want.
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Seemingly gathering the most social media attention is the next instalment in the Legend of Zelda series; which sees you play as Link awakening from a deep sleep, to find Hyrule in tatters, with you being the only hope. The gameplay is a departure from the norm, as it is an open world format. This means there are multiple ways to do quests, as well as providing players with a much bigger world to play in, making it a longer and more fulfilling experience.
Watch Dogs was the most anticipated game at E3 a few years ago, and now it’s back with another instalment, this time in San Francisco offering a wealth of new opportunities. The story involves playing as a hacker who is part of the activist group ‘Deadsec’, looking to stop the control of people via technology. This game will try and take hacking to a new level involving being able to hack all people and vehicles on the map.
God of War 4
There are ways to introduce a game, some are different and unique, which certainly is what Sony went for with God of War 4. They produced a full orchestral introduction, and trailer, to captivate old and new fans. The game focuses on Kratos as the protagonist, but also the relationship he has with his son, adding an interesting element to the plotline.
Detroit: Become Human
Detroit: Become Human is a new take on AI versus human. Developed by Quantic Dream you know this is going to an interesting game which will try and tell a story as Heavy Rain has shown in the past. The players can influence the story, depending on whether they survive in the world they are exploring, making it extremely dynamic. They will also play on both sides AI and human, making it even more intriguing.
This E3 is being looked at by fans as a damp squid, most information has been seen, or leaked, already and companies and developers are finding new and better ways to get the information to gamers. There are also a lot of familiar names making familiar games, and invention is low from some developers.
